Basic Life Support (BLS) equipment encompasses essential tools and devices utilized for the immediate management of patients facing respiratory or cardiac emergencies. This includes automated external defibrillators (AEDs), bag-valve masks (BVMs), and oxygen delivery systems, which are critical during the initial assessment and care phases of emergency response, particularly within the framework of Incident Command System (ICS) protocols. Not to be confused with Advanced Life Support (ALS) equipment, which involves more complex interventions, BLS equipment is foundational for effective patient stabilization.
