Editorial Policy

AllFirefighter operates as an independent publication serving the global fire service community. Every editorial decision — what we publish, how we review it, how we correct it — is guided by a single priority: accuracy that firefighters can rely on.

Effective date: January 1, 2024  ·  Last reviewed: April 2026

🔥 First Principle

No advertiser, affiliate partner, or sponsor has ever influenced — or will ever influence — an editorial decision on AllFirefighter.

Two-Editor Peer Review Model

AllFirefighter operates with a simple model that is standard in medical and legal publishing but rare in fire service media: every technical article is written by one credentialed editor and reviewed by the other before publication. Both of our editors are active-duty career firefighters in Turkey with directly relevant, verifiable operational experience.

AllFirefighter Editorial Team

Reference-style and data-driven pages (for example, state-by-state firefighter salary pages sourced from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics) are published under the AllFirefighter Editorial Team name rather than an individual editor. These pages do not claim personal operational experience with the data — the underlying data sources (BLS, NFPA, USFA) are stated on every such page, and the content is reviewed by our firefighter editors before publication.

Content Creation & Review Process

  1. Assignment. Topics are assigned to the editor with directly relevant operational experience. Primary sources (NFPA, OSHA, NIFC, USFA, ERG, BLS, AFAD, EN standards documents) are identified before writing.
  2. Drafting. The lead editor writes the article. Operational detail, real experience, and concrete examples take precedence over generic summaries.
  3. Peer review. The second editor reviews the draft with particular attention to technical accuracy, safety-critical claims, and standards references.
  4. Editorial review. Final check for clarity, completeness, and alignment with our editorial standards and disclosure requirements.
  5. Translation & copy-editing. Text is refined into publication-quality English. We use AI tools to assist with translation and copy-editing — never for generating technical claims.
  6. Post-publication monitoring. Content is monitored for standard changes, reader corrections, and new guidance. Articles are updated with a visible "Updated [Month Year]:" notice when material changes occur.

Source Standards

AllFirefighter content is grounded in authoritative, verifiable sources:

  • NFPA standards and technical publications
  • OSHA regulations and compliance guidance
  • NIFC, USFA, NFIRS incident and statistics databases
  • Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG) — current edition
  • U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) for salary data
  • EN standards (EN 469, EN 443, EN 137 and related)
  • Turkish AFAD and İtfaiye Yönetmeliği documents
  • IFSTA, Jones & Bartlett, Pennwell fire service texts
  • Manufacturer specifications and NFPA certifications
  • Peer-reviewed fire service and EMS research

Use of AI Tools — Full Disclosure

We are transparent about where AI fits into our workflow. Our editors are native Turkish speakers; publishing technical fire service content in English requires translation and copy-editing support. We use AI tools to:

  • Translate editor-written Turkish drafts into English
  • Improve grammar, flow, and readability
  • Suggest headings and meta descriptions
  • Check consistency across articles

AI is never used to:

  • Generate technical claims, numbers, or standards references
  • Write articles on topics the editor has no direct experience with
  • Produce content that passes peer review without editor verification
  • Fabricate authors, credentials, or operational experience

Every technical claim on this site originates from one of our two editors and has been verified against a primary source before publication.

What We Do Not Publish

  • Paid editorial placements, sponsored articles, or promotional content presented as independent coverage.
  • Content based on unverified social media reports, anonymous tips, or unconfirmed incident details.
  • Misleading headlines, manipulated statistics, or sensationalized incident reporting.
  • Content produced solely to manipulate search rankings without genuine informational value.
  • Fabricated quotes, invented expert opinions, or unverifiable attributions.
  • Personal information about individuals involved in incidents without verified public record justification.
  • AI-generated articles published without firefighter review and verification.

Affiliate & Product Content

Some articles on AllFirefighter contain affiliate links (including Amazon Associates). These relationships are disclosed clearly at the top of every affected article.

Affiliate relationships have no bearing on product selection, ratings, or recommendations. Products are evaluated against NFPA certification status, field relevance, and firefighter safety requirements — not commercial relationships. If a product does not meet our criteria, we say so.

Updates & Corrections

Published content is reviewed and updated when NFPA or EN standards are revised, when official guidance changes, or when errors are identified. Significant updates are marked with an "Updated [Month Year]:" notice at the top of the article. Factual errors are corrected with a visible "Correction:" label — we never silently edit articles.

See our Corrections Policy for details on how to report an error.
