Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) Deployment refers to the organized dispatch of a dedicated rescue crew tasked with the immediate search and rescue of firefighters in distress during fireground operations. This team is equipped with specialized tools, including SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus) and thermal imaging cameras (TIC), to perform emergency interventions efficiently. Not to be confused with general search operations, RIT deployment is a critical safety measure activated upon a MAYDAY or other firefighter emergency signals within the incident command system (ICS).
