Chemical agent detection refers to the specialized techniques and instruments employed to identify hazardous chemical substances in various environments, particularly during emergency response scenarios. This includes the use of portable detectors and fixed monitoring systems that can operate within established frameworks such as the Incident Command System (ICS) and National Incident Management System (NIMS). Not to be confused with chemical agent monitoring systems (CAMS), which provide continuous exposure tracking, detection is focused on pinpointing specific agents at a particular moment.
