Definition & Operational Usage
A cylinder pressure gauge is a critical component of SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus) used by firefighters to monitor the air pressure remaining in the breathing cylinder. It provides real-time pressure readings, allowing the user to assess their available air supply during operations. Not to be confused with a regulator pressure gauge, which controls airflow to the facepiece, the cylinder pressure gauge is essential for air management and situational awareness within the Incident Command System (ICS).
