A facepiece lens protective shield is a transparent, removable cover designed to shield the lens of a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) facepiece from scratches, heat, and contaminants during firefighting operations. It helps maintain clear visibility by preventing damage that could impair the firefighter’s vision. Not to be confused with the facepiece lens tear-off system, which is a multi-layered peel-away film used for rapid cleaning on the fireground. This shield supports operational safety within the Hot/Warm/Cold Zone environments by preserving lens integrity under harsh conditions.
