A hose clamp is a mechanical fastening device designed to secure a fire hose connection, preventing leaks during firefighting operations. It typically features a circular band that tightens around the hose and fitting, ensuring a secure seal under pressure. Not to be confused with hose couplings, which connect two hoses, hose clamps are utilized to stabilize and maintain pressure within a single hose line, particularly during critical scenarios such as those outlined in the Incident Command System (ICS).
