UN 0107 — Fuzes, detonating
Placard: Explosive 1.2B. ERG Guide 112. Training/quick-reference only — use current ERG + SOP/SOG for incident-specific actions.
UN 0107 covers detonating fuzes, which are metallic or composite assemblies containing explosive charges engineered to initiate detonation in larger explosive systems. These devices, also known as blasting fuzes, initiating fuzes, or military fuzes, may be cylindrical in form and constructed from brass, aluminum, or plastic.
Hazard overview: UN 0107 detonating fuzes present a severe projection and fragmentation hazard upon initiation, along with dangerous blast overpressure in the immediate vicinity. These devices are acutely sensitive to heat, shock, and electrical current, making any uncontrolled exposure extremely dangerous.
Response guidance: In any incident involving UN 0107, only qualified bomb disposal personnel should approach, and all others must immediately isolate the area to at least 500 meters in all directions. If the cargo is involved in fire, evacuate all persons to a minimum of 1,600 meters (1 mile) in all directions and do not attempt to fight the fire.

PPE Requirements
Response to UN 0107 incidents requires SCBA and full protective clothing, and must only be conducted by bomb disposal personnel operating from a protected location at the minimum safe distance.
Isolation & Evacuation
First Actions for a UN 0107 Incident
- CALL 911. Then call emergency response telephone number on shipping paper.
- Isolate minimum 500 meters; stage upwind and uphill.
- Request Hazmat + law enforcement immediately.
- Control ignition sources; deny unauthorized entry.
- Do not approach — projectile/fragmentation hazard.
- Consult current ERG Guide 112 and follow SOP/SOG.
